The story that started it all: the BBC’s official announcement that Doctor Who will go out to competitive tender to secure its future, with the planned 2026 Christmas special cancelled as a result. Russell T Davies added his own statement, saying goodbye to the show and confirming no script or actor had been lined up for a new Doctor.
