A brilliant but arrogant teenage mathematical genius from E-Space, Adric is intelligent, prickly, insecure and often resentful of not being taken seriously due to his age.
Interesting Facts
- At 18 when filming began, Matthew Waterhouse was among the youngest actors cast in a regular companion role.
- Adric was the first companion to die on screen since 1965.
- His death scene plays in silence over a shot of his broken badge, a first for the series.
What Happened to the Character
In Earthshock (1982), Adric is trapped aboard a Cyberman-controlled freighter hurtling toward prehistoric Earth and dies in the crash.
