Speaking to Radio Times, former writer and actor Mark Gatiss said he has a “doomy” feeling about Doctor Who’s immediate future, comparing the BBC’s current tender process to 1989, when a similar promise to continue the series quietly came to nothing. Gatiss stressed he still believes the show will eventually return, suggesting a proper break might do it good.
