Speaking to Radio Times following the Edinburgh TV Festival, Netflix’s VP of Original Series Anne Mensah said she believes Doctor Who “belongs on the BBC”, while praising former showrunner Russell T Davies as “a freaking genius” she would love to work with again. Her comments came shortly after Prime Video executives were asked similar questions about the BBC’s upcoming competitive tender for the show, leaving the door open for streamers to play a production role even if the series itself stays put.
