Doctor Who TV – 7 October 2026
Following the 2 October close of applications, Deadline reports that Hat Trick Mercurio (with Jed Mercurio attached as executive producer), World Productions (leading ITV Studios’ attempt) and STV Studios (with Screen Scotland) have bid for the next era of Doctor Who, with a bid from BBC Studios also expected. The list is not exhaustive, and more bidders may yet emerge.

BBC Studios scripted boss Jamie Hall says he wants the next era to recapture the appeal of the David Tennant and Matt Smith years, with BBC Studios potentially bidding. The BBC expects to choose a producer in spring 2027, with the next full series currently expected in 2028 or 2029.
