Summary
With the real Clara trapped in a pod but able to influence her Zygon duplicate Bonnie through a telepathic link, the Doctor and Osgood parachute to safety moments before Bonnie shoots down their plane, and Clara manages to signal her location back to the Doctor through subtle winks and a stolen phone message. As Bonnie tortures Clara telepathically to learn the location of the Osgood Box, a device meant only as a last-resort deterrent, she discovers there are two identical boxes in the UNIT Black Archive beneath the Tower of London, each containing buttons that could unmask every Zygon on Earth or destroy them outright. In a tense standoff, Bonnie prepares to press her box’s button just as UNIT’s Kate Stewart prepares to press the other, both believing their weapon is real, until the Doctor delivers an impassioned anti-war speech drawing on his own guilt from the Time War, revealing both boxes are empty props designed only to force a peaceful stand-down. Bonnie, moved by the Doctor’s words, calls off the splinter group’s rebellion entirely and, in an ironic twist, becomes the new duplicate Osgood, continuing the arrangement that has kept the peace between species for years.
