Summary
Yasmin asks the Doctor to travel back to 1947 India to learn about her grandmother Umbreen’s mysterious first marriage, only for the group to arrive in the middle of the violent chaos of the Partition of India, where Umbreen’s soon-to-be husband Prem and his brother Manish find themselves on opposite sides of the escalating communal conflict. Alongside this human tragedy, the travelers also encounter a group of alien “assassins” who turn out to be peaceful mourners honoring the unmarked dead of history’s forgotten victims, including, poignantly, Prem himself.
