Former showrunner Chris Chibnall says the BBC’s delay in posting its Doctor Who Invitation to Tender comes down to funding, not the wider debates around the show’s future. Speaking on the WHO Corner to Corner podcast, he explained that with the BBC’s Disney co-production deal over, the corporation must line up a new funding partner and distributor before the tender can go ahead, adding that he has no intention of pitching for the show himself.
