Summary
Rose asks the Doctor to take her back to 1987 to be with her father, Pete Tyler, in his final moments before he is fatally struck by a car. Overwhelmed by finally meeting him, Rose impulsively pushes Pete out of the path of the vehicle, saving his life but tearing a wound in time. Reapers, ancient creatures that sterilize temporal wounds by consuming everything nearby, begin appearing and attacking anyone in sight, including a church full of people the Doctor and Rose are forced to take shelter in. As the situation grows desperate, Pete comes to realize what has happened and, despite his fear, sacrifices himself by deliberately stepping in front of the car at the moment he was originally meant to die, healing the wound in time and saving everyone else.
