Summary
Travelling alone to Gallifrey for the first time without a companion, the Doctor is drawn into a deadly conspiracy when he is framed for the assassination of the Time Lord President. Forced to clear his name, he enters the dangerous virtual reality of the Matrix, the repository of all Time Lord knowledge, where a hidden enemy is manipulating events from within. As the Doctor uncovers a plot connecting Chancellor Goth to a mysterious, disfigured figure controlling the Matrix, he confronts a familiar old enemy in a wholly new and desperate form.
