Summary

Sensing his own impending death growing closer, the Doctor is drawn back to Earth by Wilfred Mott, who warns of dark, cultish rumblings surrounding the resurrection of the Master. As the Master returns transformed, granted terrifying new powers, and a shadowy cabal reveals a scheme reaching all the way back to Gallifrey, the Doctor must reckon with an old enemy and the mounting sense that his own end is finally approaching.

  • This was the first of a two-part special serving as David Tennant’s penultimate story before regenerating into the Eleventh Doctor.
  • John Simm’s Master returns with an altered, cannibalistic hunger and enhanced physical abilities following his resurrection.
